Rahman Ali Bin Abdul Wahab, a 47-year-old Malaysian, is the CEO, director, and shareholder of 5 Pillars, a venture capital firm in Malaysia. He co-founded 5 Pillars to pursue venture capital activities. Rahman, a graduate of the University Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Bachelor of Business Administration, furthered his education with a Master of Business Administration specializing in Management from the International Islamic University. His career commenced in the capital market, particularly in share market and banking, where he served as Share Financing Assistance Manager at EON Finance Bhd from 2000 to 2006. Rahman’s experience also includes a successful tenure as CEO at SCS Capital Sdn Bhd, during which he facilitated investments across various industries. Subsequently, he joined the Asian Development Bank as a consultant, engaging with Malaysian government ministries and agencies. In 2016, Rahman ventured into the food and beverage industry as an entrepreneur and assumed his current role at 5 Pillars in 2018. His diverse background showcases a wealth of experience across finance, venture capital, and business development.
Tajul Arifin Bin Mohd Tahir, a 53-year-old Malaysian, is a seasoned expert with over 25 years of experience in Malaysia’s capital market, specializing in initial public offerings, secondary placements, and corporate exercises. He co-founded and serves as a shareholder and director of 5 Pillars, overseeing corporate affairs and business development. Tajul holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Saint Louis University (1989). His career began in 1991 at MIDF Consultancy, where he actively contributed to enhancing issuing house processes. Later, as Associate Director, he expanded the business network and maintained key stakeholder relationships. In 2018, he co-founded 5 Pillars for venture capital activities, and in the same year, he assumed the role of Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Mestron Holdings Berhad. Tajul’s extensive experience spans various sectors, making him a distinguished figure in the industry.
Chris is a serial entrepreneur and corporate restructuring strategist. He specialises in capital market and capital raising. He founded CoMetro Capital & Private Equity since 2013 with a few like minded investor entrepreneur and has become very active in the group since 2016 and lead them as its CEO/GP and Director since 2017. He is currently the lead advisor for several local companies embarking on IPO listing in Bursa Malaysia, Singapore Exchange and Australia Stock Exchange. He sits in two listed company board of directors/shareholders and several regional private limited companies board of directors. Chris is also the partner to Max Capital Holdings Ltd, a global venture and investment company where he co-founded the Global Investment Community (GIC).
C S C Shangkar A/L Chandra, a 45-year-old Malaysian, serves as the Executive Director and CEO of Max Capital Management Holding Ltd (MCM). Maxshangkar holds an MBA in International Business with Distinction from the University of East London, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with First Class Honors from the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM). With over two decades of experience in entrepreneurship and international project management spanning various sectors from property to healthcare and eCommerce, he brings substantial business acumen and global networking capabilities. Maxshangkar’s impressive portfolio includes leadership roles, project management consultancies, property partnerships, and venture investments, exemplifying his prowess in navigating diverse industries and driving digital transformation. His remarkable achievements have been recognized with accolades, such as the “Midas Touch Asia Enterprise Platinum Award.” As an investment partner for Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) and venture partner for CrowdPlus Sdn Bhd, he plays a pivotal role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurial growth. Maxshangkar’s versatile expertise is evident through his contributions to multiple e-Commerce and digitalization projects, property development ventures, and project financing across various regions. His extensive professional background makes him a distinguished figure in the business world, uniquely positioned to lead MCM to new heights.
